About this resource

About

OrCam Technologies, founded in Jerusalem, Israel in 2010 by the co-founders of Mobileye, developed OrCam MyEye as a standalone wearable reading and visual assistance device. The latest model — OrCam MyEye 3 Pro — features a conversational "Just Ask" AI interface, allowing users to ask open-ended questions about what the camera sees using natural language powered by GPT.

What It Does

OrCam MyEye reads text from books, newspapers, menus, street signs, screens, and any other printed surface, speaking the content through a discreet earpiece. It recognises pre-taught faces and announces who is approaching, identifies currency and product barcodes, and with the Smart Magnifier feature can zoom in on physical objects for closer inspection. The device is operated by simple hand gestures or voice commands and attaches magnetically to the frame of any glasses. Because it works offline, it functions reliably in any environment, including areas with poor connectivity.

Who It Helps

OrCam MyEye serves people who are blind or have low vision, including those with macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and other conditions affecting visual acuity. Its offline capability and wearable form factor make it suitable for users who need continuous, hands-free reading support throughout the day.
