About
Founded in 1996 in Bend, Oregon, Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS) began as a grassroots programme born from a shared love of skiing and the outdoors. Now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, OAS has grown into one of the largest adaptive winter sports programmes in the Pacific Northwest, operating year-round at two mountain venues.
What It Does
OAS delivers half-day and full-day adaptive lessons in monoski, bi-ski, 3-track, 4-track, alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing. The winter season runs mid-December through late April at Mt. Bachelor and Hoodoo Ski Area, with all instruction led by certified adaptive instructors alongside trained volunteers. Summer programming includes adaptive cycling, mountain biking, and golf.
Who It Helps
OAS serves children and adults with a wide range of disabilities including spinal cord injuries, limb differences, traumatic brain injuries, autism, cerebral palsy, and visual impairments. No prior sports experience is required and all skill levels — from first-timers to seasoned adaptive athletes — are welcomed.
