About
Roger is a digital wireless microphone and FM system developed by Phonak (part of Sonova Group), a global leader in hearing technology. It is specifically designed to improve speech understanding for children and adults in educational environments where background noise and speaker distance reduce hearing aid and cochlear implant effectiveness.
What It Does
Roger microphones capture the teacher's voice and transmit it wirelessly to Roger receivers worn by students with hearing loss—either directly via a Roger Focus receiver or through compatible hearing aids and cochlear implants with a Roger receiver embedded. The Roger SoundField option amplifies sound for the whole classroom, benefiting all students. The system automatically increases output volume as ambient noise rises, and is compatible with most major hearing aid brands. Roger receivers can also be used for distance learning and hybrid classroom settings.
Who It Helps
Roger for Education is designed for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in mainstream classrooms from early childhood through post-secondary education. It is also used for students with auditory processing disorder (APD) and autism spectrum disorder who benefit from clearer speech and reduced background noise.
