About
RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America) was founded to promote the health and well-being of people with disabilities through technology solutions. It brings together rehabilitation engineers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, AT suppliers, and consumers, and is the accrediting body for the ATP credential — the industry benchmark for AT service providers across the US and Canada.
What It Does
RESNA's Certified Professionals Locator lets consumers search for ATP-certified clinicians and suppliers by location and specialty, making it easier to find a qualified professional for complex wheelchair and seating evaluations. RESNA also develops ANSI/RESNA wheelchair and seating standards (including cushion testing protocols) that protect consumers by ensuring AT products meet rigorous safety and performance requirements.
Who It Helps
People with any disability seeking the right mobility, seating, communication, or access technology — particularly those who need a complex wheelchair prescription or a home modification assessment. Clinicians and AT suppliers use RESNA certification to demonstrate competency to insurers and consumers, making the credential a reliable marker of quality when choosing a provider.
