About
Rylo, formerly known as Nagish, is an FCC-certified Internet Protocol Captioned Telephone Service (IP CTS) founded in 2021 by a deaf-led team. In 2025 the company raised $85 million and rebranded as Rylo, expanding its AI communication platform for deaf and hard-of-hearing users beyond phone call captioning. Rylo also acquired sign language translation company Sign.mt to develop real-time signed language translation tools.
What It Does
Rylo captions incoming and outgoing phone calls in real time using on-device AI—there is no human relay operator on the call, so conversations remain entirely private. The app works with an existing phone number and carrier without additional hardware. A Live Transcribe feature provides real-time captions for in-person conversations at appointments, lectures, or anywhere speech needs to be followed. The app integrates with iOS and Android native phone dialers.
Who It Helps
Deaf and hard-of-hearing users in the United States who want private, AI-captioned phone calls without a human transcription relay. The service is free for FCC-eligible individuals who self-certify hearing loss. Particularly valued by users who have privacy concerns about traditional relay services where a human operator is present on the line.
