About this resource

About

Silent Call Communications has designed and manufactured assistive alerting technology for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community for decades. Their Medallion Series provides a wireless ecosystem of transmitters and receivers that work together to cover every alert event in a home — adaptable to apartments, condominiums, dormitories, and houses.

What It Does

Transmitters attach to or replace existing alert sources — doorbells, telephones, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and baby monitors — and wirelessly signal compatible receivers anywhere in the home. Receivers can be fixed plug-in units with bright strobe flashes, bed shakers that vibrate under the mattress at night, or a body-worn Vibra-Call receiver clipped to a waistband that uses distinct vibration patterns to distinguish between a doorbell, phone call, fire alarm, and other events. All components within the Medallion product line are cross-compatible and the system is expandable as the user's needs change.

Who It Helps

People who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind living independently or with family who need reliable visual and tactile notification of household alert events. Nighttime safety alerts (fire, CO) and household access (doorbell) are the primary use cases; the body-worn receiver extends coverage outside the home.
