About this resource

About

CaptionCall by Sorenson is a free captioned telephone service from Sorenson, the largest Video Relay Service provider in the US and a leading communications company for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Equipment and captioning are funded through the FCC Telecommunications Relay Service; the FCC granted Sorenson full IP CTS certification in June 2025, valid through 2030.

What It Does

CaptionCall uses advanced voice recognition combined with live captioning agents to display real-time captions during phone calls on a large, high-definition touchscreen home phone or through the CaptionCall mobile app for iOS and Android. Professional delivery, installation, and hands-on training are included at no charge. The service is available in English and Spanish.

Who It Helps

CaptionCall is available to any US resident who has difficulty hearing on the phone, with particular focus on older adults and those who prefer a dedicated captioned home phone over a smartphone-only solution.
