About this resource

About

Speaksee was created to address one of the most persistent challenges for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people: following fast-moving group conversations where a standard captioning app cannot distinguish individual speakers. The system includes discreet clip-on microphones for each participant, a wireless hub, and a companion smartphone app.

What It Does

Each participant clips on a Speaksee microphone during a meeting or seminar. The hub connects the microphones wirelessly and streams color-coded, speaker-identified captions to the deaf user's smartphone in real time. Beam-forming microphones filter background noise for accuracy across up to nine participants. An AutoCaption tier is also available for lighter use without the hardware kit.

Who It Helps

Speaksee is particularly valuable for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in seminar settings, employees in team meetings, and anyone who regularly participates in multi-person conversations. It is recognized under the UK's Disabled Students' Allowance programme and is used in the United States, Europe, and beyond.
