About this resource

About

Summit Adaptive Sports is a nonprofit organisation based in Connecticut that partners with Ski Sundown in New Hartford, CT to provide adaptive ski and snowboard instruction throughout the winter season. Over two recent seasons the organisation delivered more than 550 lessons to over 150 athletes through a growing volunteer and certified-instructor network.

What It Does

Winter programming centres on one-on-one adaptive ski and snowboard instruction tailored to each participant's disability and experience level. Year-round programmes include kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and disc golf at accessible sites across northwest Connecticut. Scholarships are available for all programmes.

Who It Helps

Summit Adaptive Sports serves individuals with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, blind/low vision, deaf/hard of hearing, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, PTSD, anxiety, and limb loss. The scholarship programme ensures financial constraints do not prevent participation.
