About
Grid 3 is a complete communication and computer-access solution developed by Smartbox (UK), combining AAC with full Windows control under one programm. It is used in schools, clinics, and homes worldwide and supports a wide range of dedicated AAC devices as well as standard Windows computers.
What It Does
Grid 3 bundles symbol- and text-based communication with tools to browse the web, send emails, control smart-home devices via infrared and radio technology, and use social media—all without switching applications. Ready-made vocabulary systems include Super Core, WordPower, PODD, and Vocabulary for Life; the built-in editor allows clinicians and families to customise every grid set in detail. Access methods include touch, switch scanning, eye gaze, head tracking, and joystick, and multiple methods can be active simultaneously to suit changing needs throughout the day.
Who It Helps
Grid 3 serves people with cerebral palsy, ALS/MND, Rett syndrome, spinal cord injury, and other conditions that require alternative access to both communication and computing. Its multi-access support and deep computer-integration make it especially powerful for adults seeking high levels of independence across all daily activities.
