About this resource

About

TouchChat HD is developed by PRC-Saltillo (Prentke Romich Company and Saltillo Corporation) and is one of the most widely used AAC apps in educational and clinical settings across the United States. It integrates directly with PRC-Saltillo dedicated speech-generating hardware and supports a broad range of vocabulary file formats.

What It Does

The app allows full customisation of pages, grid layouts, symbols, and messages across multiple vocabulary systems including WordPower and LAMP. Touch access, integrated head tracking on supported iPad models, and switch scanning are all supported. Voice output covers English, Spanish, Canadian French, Arabic, Hebrew, and Mandarin, and vocabulary files can be backed up and shared via Google Drive or Dropbox.

Who It Helps

TouchChat HD supports individuals of all ages with autism, Down syndrome, ALS, apraxia of speech, stroke, and any other condition that limits natural speech. It is used at home, in schools, and in clinical settings as a primary AAC system.
