About this resource

About

Published by PRC-Saltillo, TouchChat HD has served the AAC community for over a decade and is used in schools, clinics, and homes worldwide. The app supports English, Spanish, Canadian French, Arabic, Hebrew, and Mandarin, making it one of the most multilingual dedicated AAC apps available on iOS.

What It Does

Users communicate by tapping symbols or typing text, with synthesised or pre-recorded voices speaking the output. Add-on vocabulary packages — WordPower, Gateway, Pixon, and more — are available as in-app purchases to match different language levels and learning profiles. Head tracking on newer iPads and iPhones provides hands-free access for users with limited fine-motor control.

Who It Helps

Individuals with autism, Down syndrome, ALS, apraxia of speech, stroke, cerebral palsy, and other conditions limiting natural speech. The multilingual support is particularly useful for bilingual families and communicators whose primary language is not English.
