About
The USA Deaf Sports Federation (USADSF) is the national governing body for Deaf and hard-of-hearing sport in the United States, affiliated with the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf. Founded in 1945, USADSF coordinates the selection and preparation of Team USA athletes for the Deaflympics — the oldest multi-sport international event for athletes with disabilities, first held in 1924.
What It Does
USADSF governs 22 sports for Deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes, sanctions national Deaf sports championships, supports development of Deaf athletes at all levels, and manages Team USA's participation in summer and winter Deaflympics. The federation also advocates for the recognition of Deaf sport as culturally distinct — Deaf athletes compete in their own events rather than alongside athletes with other disabilities.
Who It Helps
Deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes of all ages and skill levels in the United States who want to compete in organised sport. USADSF member sports include basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming, cycling, badminton, golf, and 14 others.
