About
USA Hockey's Disabled Hockey programme is the national governing body for six adaptive ice hockey disciplines in the United States. Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Hockey works through NHL-affiliated clubs, regional sections, and certified local programmes to grow ice hockey participation for people with disabilities at every level.
What It Does
The programme facilitates local sled hockey teams, blind hockey, deaf hockey, standing/amputee hockey, Special Hockey for players with cognitive disabilities, and Warrior Hockey for veterans. USA Hockey hosts annual Player Development Camps, the Sled Classic round-robin tournament with NHL-affiliated teams, and National Championships each spring. A programme finder on the website connects players to local teams.
Who It Helps
The programme serves people with physical disabilities, visual impairments, hearing loss, cognitive disabilities, and veterans seeking adaptive ice hockey. Opportunities exist for youth and adults across all six disciplines.
