About
Founded in the 1970s as the Vermont Handicap Ski Foundation, Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports became the first disabled skiing programme in Vermont to serve people of all ages. Now operating at Killington Resort, Sugarbush Resort, and Bolton Valley Ski Area, it contributes over $10 million annually to Vermont's economy while supporting 72 jobs.
What It Does
Certified instructors and trained volunteers deliver personalised lessons in alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing, matching adaptive equipment—mono-skis, bi-skis, and outriggers—to each participant's ability level. Year-round programming extends to kayaking, cycling, hiking, rock climbing, and CORE Connections wellness retreats.
Who It Helps
Children and adults with physical, cognitive, and emotional or behavioural disabilities from around the world. Vermont Adaptive's sliding-scale fees and scholarship model mean ability to pay is never a barrier to participation.
