About this resource

About

Writing Alchemy is an independent TTRPG and narrative games project maintained by Jennifer Kretchmer. Its Accessibility Resources for Gaming page grew from the Unfamiliar Heroes actual-play podcast series—a show that uses tabletop games to create new representations of disabled, sick, and neurodiverse people—into a standalone community reference used widely across the tabletop disability space.

What It Does

The guide covers accessibility across multiple dimensions: physical access for players with motor impairments, cognitive and sensory access strategies, accessible streaming and podcasting setups, and ethical representation of disability in game fiction. It links to community Discord servers, design tools, academic research, podcasts, and organisations active in the space, with materials suited to both players and creators.

Who It Helps

Disabled tabletop gamers seeking community and practical tools, game masters wanting inclusive table practices, and designers building accessible games or audio productions. The resource is especially strong on disability representation in narrative and on access needs for neurodiverse players.
