About this resource

About

ZoomText, developed by Freedom Scientific (a Vispero brand), is one of the most widely used screen magnification solutions for people with low vision. First released in 1988, it has been continuously refined to serve Windows users with vision impairments ranging from mild to severe.

What It Does

ZoomText enlarges all on-screen content—text, images, menus, and video—up to 36× magnification using its proprietary xFont® rendering technology, which keeps text crisp at every zoom level. Users can choose from colour enhancement filters, invert modes, and reading guides. The Magnifier/Reader edition adds AppReader and DocReader tools that read text aloud, bridging the gap for users who need both magnification and speech.

Who It Helps

ZoomText is designed for adults with low vision conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. It is widely used in educational and workplace settings by students and professionals who require screen enlargement to work effectively.
