Access Alaska

Access Alaska is a statewide Center for Independent Living founded in the mid-1980s, serving people with disabilities and seniors across Alaska's vast geographic landscape through peer-delivered services, advocacy, and independent living support. With offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla, Access Alaska helps individuals with disabilities live in the community of their choice.

Access Alaska is one of Alaska's largest Centers for Independent Living, with offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla, founded in the mid-1980s. Governed by a board majority of people with disabilities, Access Alaska champions the Independent Living philosophy of consumer-directed, peer-driven service.

What They Do

Access Alaska provides the four core independent living services — advocacy, information and referral, peer counseling, and skills training — along with assistive technology loan programs, homemaker services, and systemic advocacy for improved Alaska disability policy.

Access Alaska serves people with any disability and older adults across Alaska, with a focus on supporting community integration for those at risk of institutionalization. Outreach extends to rural and remote communities, including Alaska Native individuals with disabilities.
