Alliance on Disability in Liberia
Multi-stakeholder coalition of international organisations, local DPOs, and government institutions advancing the rights and full inclusion of persons with disabilities in Liberia under the UNCRPD. The Alliance drives collective advocacy to embed disability issues in national policy and decision-making.
About
The Alliance on Disability in Liberia is a multi-stakeholder coalition comprising international and local organisations, disabled persons' organisations (DPOs), and government institutions working collectively to advance disability rights and full inclusion across Liberia. It is guided by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and has partnered with UNDP on national disability action planning.
What They Do
The Alliance conducts collective advocacy to ensure disability considerations are embedded in national policy and decision-making processes, builds coalitions between DPOs and mainstream development actors, and coordinates responses to disability-specific barriers identified through community-based emancipatory research. Its members contribute expertise from international humanitarian, development, and human-rights perspectives alongside deep local knowledge.
Who They Serve
The Alliance serves persons with all categories of disability across Liberia's 15 counties, operating through its member organisations to reach communities whose needs are often invisible in mainstream policy and programming.
