About

Established in 1995 as a standalone nonprofit, the Arizona Center for Disability Law is the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy agency for Arizona. It is funded by the federal government to ensure that the human and civil rights of people with disabilities are protected, and it operates with full independence from the state government.

What They Do

ACDL provides advocacy, information and referral, community legal education, and — in selected cases — direct legal representation in negotiations, mediations, administrative hearings, and court proceedings. Key focus areas include special education rights, abuse and neglect in residential facilities, psychiatric facility conditions, voting access, community integration, and employment discrimination.

Who They Serve

ACDL serves Arizonans with any type of disability, regardless of income. Services are available statewide through its Phoenix and Tucson offices, with outreach to rural and underserved communities across the state.
