Barbados Council for the Disabled(BCD)
Established in 1976, the Barbados Council for the Disabled is the leading umbrella disability organisation in Barbados, representing 17 member groups and 4 associates covering diverse disability categories. BCD provides accessible transportation, Braille translation, beach wheelchairs, and sign language services, and runs the Fully Accessible Barbados (FAB) programme to eliminate barriers island-wide.

The Barbados Council for the Disabled (BCD) was established in 1976 and has grown into Barbados's foremost umbrella disability organisation, representing 17 member groups and 4 associate organisations across a wide range of disabilities. Based at Harambee House, The Garrison, St. Michael, BCD works with government, local organisations, and international agencies to advance inclusion and remove barriers for persons with disabilities—including residents and visitors to the island.
What They Do
BCD provides practical direct services—including accessible transportation, Braille translation, beach wheelchairs, sign language interpreters, and property accessibility assessments—alongside policy advocacy and public awareness campaigns. Its flagship initiative, the Fully Accessible Barbados (FAB) Programme, focuses on improving access in transportation and education. BCD also runs capacity-development and social/business-development programmes for member organisations.
