Comité Español de Representantes de Personas con Discapacidad(CERMI)
CERMI is Spain's national umbrella platform representing over 4.74 million people with disabilities through a network of more than 800 member organisations. Founded in 1997, it is the principal voice of the Spanish disability movement in dialogue with government, parliament, and European institutions.
About
CERMI was established in 1997 by Spain's six major national disability federations and has since grown to represent organisations covering physical, sensory, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities. Its headquarters are on Calle de Recoletos in central Madrid and it engages directly with EU-level disability policy through the European Disability Forum.
What They Do
CERMI monitors and influences legislation affecting people with disabilities in Spain, coordinates the policy positions of its 800+ member organisations, and participates in international forums including the UN CRPD process. It publishes analysis, policy reports, and accessible disability rights resources in Spanish.
Who They Serve
CERMI advocates on behalf of all people with disabilities in Spain regardless of disability type, and liaises with organisations serving children, adults, women with disabilities, and families across all autonomous communities.
