About
Founded in 1978 in Houston by a group of disability advocates seeking a unified statewide voice, the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities (CTD) has grown into the largest and most influential cross-disability membership organisation in Texas. CTD is governed by and for people with all types of disabilities.
What They Do
CTD engages in legislative advocacy at the Texas Capitol, monitors state disability policy, and educates the public on disability rights and inclusion. Priority issues include accessible voting, community-based services, accessible transportation, employment, and education access. CTD also runs its Future Leaders Advocacy Corps to develop the next generation of disability advocates.
Who They Serve
CTD serves Texans with all disability types and their families, with a strong emphasis on consumer direction — meaning people with disabilities themselves set the agenda. Membership is open to individuals, families, and organisations across the state.
