About

The Consejo Nacional de Discapacidad (CONADIS) is an autonomous, decentralised government institution with its own legal personality, administrative, financial, and technical autonomy, operating under the Office of the Presidency of the Dominican Republic. Its mission is to guarantee equal rights, equal opportunities, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination toward persons with disabilities.

What They Do

CONADIS issues disability certifications, facilitates import tax exemptions for assistive devices, provides legal support for disability declarations, and coordinates the 'RD Incluye' Workforce Inclusion certification programme. In 2023 it produced the Official Dictionary of Dominican Sign Language and is actively co-constructing the National Disability Plan 2025–2035 with the participation of the disability community.

Who They Serve

The Council serves all persons with disabilities in the Dominican Republic, connecting individuals with legal protections, assistive technology pathways, employment resources, and policy participation regardless of disability type or severity.
