Consejo Nacional de Discapacidad(CONADIS)
CONADIS is the Dominican Republic's autonomous national council on disability, responsible for establishing and coordinating national disability policy to guarantee equal rights and eliminate discrimination against persons with disabilities. It operates under the Presidency and oversees certification, workforce inclusion, and sign language recognition.
About
CONADIS (Consejo Nacional de Discapacidad) is an autonomous and decentralised institution with legal, administrative, financial, and technical independence, attached to the Presidency of the Dominican Republic. Its mandate is to govern public disability policy and ensure compliance with national and international disability rights laws.
What They Do
CONADIS issues disability certification documents that unlock protected rights and benefits, implements the RD Includes workforce inclusion certification programme for employers, oversees import tax exemptions for assistive devices, and has led national projects such as the publication of the Official Dictionary of Dominican Sign Language (2023). The Council also provides legal support for disability declarations and representation before public institutions.
