Organization
Confédération des Organisations des Personnes Handicapées de Côte d'Ivoire(COPHCI)
COPHCI is the national confederation of disability organisations in Côte d'Ivoire, created on 31 March 2012 so that people with disabilities could speak with a unified voice. It coordinates six disability-type federations and two specific movements to advance rights and social inclusion nationwide.
About
COPHCI was established in 2012 by persons with disabilities who wanted a single, powerful advocacy body to negotiate with government on inclusion policy. The confederation heads more than a dozen member federations organised by disability type, covering physical, visual, hearing, intellectual, psychosocial disabilities, and more.
What They Do
COPHCI organises awareness workshops and community events, engages with the National Human Rights Commission, and presses government for concrete measures — including successfully securing a dedicated employment desk for persons with disabilities within the national Youth Employment Agency. It works to embed disability considerations into economic development strategies.
Who They Serve
Persons with all types of disabilities across Côte d'Ivoire, from Abidjan to rural regions, regardless of age.
