About

DisAbled Women's Network of Canada / Réseau d'action des femmes handicapées du Canada (DAWN-RAFH Canada) was founded in 1985 in Montréal and is headquartered at 469 Jean-Talon West. Canada's only national organisation representing women, girls, and gender-diverse people with all types of disabilities and Deaf women, DAWN Canada has members and chapters across all regions of the country.

What They Do

DAWN Canada advances the rights of women with disabilities through policy advocacy, research, public education, and direct support resources addressing violence prevention, health equity, poverty, housing insecurity, and intersectional discrimination. The organisation engages federal and provincial governments, the broader disability sector, and the women's movement to address the compounding barriers its members face, and produces bilingual resources in English and French.

Who They Serve

DAWN Canada serves women, girls, and gender-diverse people with disabilities and Deaf women across Canada — particularly those facing intersecting forms of discrimination based on gender, disability, race, indigeneity, immigration status, or other identity factors — and supports their full participation in social, economic, and political life.
