Disability Action Northern Ireland
Disability Action is Northern Ireland's only pan-disability umbrella organisation, representing over 100 member groups to improve the social, economic, and cultural lives of disabled people across the region. They deliver advocacy, employment training, disability awareness, and transport mobility services.
About
Originating in the 1950s as a standing committee under the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action, the organisation evolved through several names before becoming Disability Action in 1992. Headquartered at Portside Business Park in Belfast, they hold a unique position as the only organisation covering all disability types across all of Northern Ireland.
What They Do
Disability Action provides a policy and advocacy voice for its member groups; delivers employment and vocational training programmes; runs disability awareness training for employers and public bodies; offers transport and mobility assessments; and provides information services to disabled people navigating rights, benefits, and support in Northern Ireland.
