Disability Action Northern Ireland
Disability Action is Northern Ireland's largest pan-disability Disabled People's Organisation, led by and for disabled people, providing information, advocacy, employment support, and disability awareness training across all four regions. Headquartered in Belfast with offices in Derry, Dungannon, and Carrickfergus, it promotes human rights and social inclusion for people with all disability types.
About
Disability Action is Northern Ireland's pre-eminent Disabled People's Organisation (DPO), operating since the 1970s and governed entirely by disabled people. It has regional offices across Northern Ireland — in Belfast, Derry/Londonderry, Dungannon, and Carrickfergus — giving it reach into rural and urban communities throughout the country.
What They Do
Disability Action provides free information and advocacy services, delivers disability awareness and equality training to public bodies and businesses, supports disabled people with employment, benefits advice, and transport assessments, and runs an Access to Sport programme. It also undertakes policy research and lobbies the Northern Ireland Assembly and Westminster on issues affecting disabled people.
Who They Serve
Disabled people of all ages with any type of disability throughout Northern Ireland, including physical, sensory, learning, hidden, and mental health disabilities. Disability Action also works with public authorities, employers, and community organisations to build a more inclusive society in Northern Ireland.
