Disability Law Center(DLC)
The Disability Law Center is Utah's governor-designated Protection and Advocacy agency, a private nonprofit that enforces and advances the legal rights, opportunities, and choices of Utahns with disabilities entirely free of charge. With offices in Salt Lake City, Cedar City, and Logan, DLC provides legal services and advocacy statewide regardless of income or legal status.
About
The Disability Law Center is Utah's federally mandated Protection and Advocacy System. As an independent nonprofit, it is free from state government control and operates with a mission rooted in the conviction that abilities — not disabilities — should define a person's opportunities. DLC serves clients across all disability types through three statewide offices.
What They Do
DLC provides free legal representation, individual advocacy, systems change litigation, community education, and investigation of abuse and neglect in facilities serving people with disabilities. Priority areas include education rights, healthcare, housing, employment discrimination, community integration, and rights in institutional settings.
Who They Serve
DLC serves Utahns of all ages with any disability — physical, cognitive, psychiatric, sensory, or chronic — regardless of income, immigration status, or primary language. Services span the entire state including rural communities.
