Disability Rights Arkansas(DRA)
Disability Rights Arkansas is the federally authorised, independent protection and advocacy system for Arkansans with disabilities, providing free legal representation, monitoring, and advocacy since 1977. Designated by the Governor of Arkansas, DRA protects the civil and legal rights of all Arkansans with disabilities, entirely free of charge.
About
Disability Rights Arkansas (DRA) is headquartered at 400 West Capitol Avenue in Little Rock and has served as Arkansas's designated P&A system for nearly five decades. Operating independently from state government and funded through federal grants, DRA ensures impartial legal advocacy on behalf of people with disabilities across the state.
What They Do
DRA provides information and referral, short-term legal assistance, systemic legal representation, monitoring of facilities and institutions, investigation of abuse and neglect, technical assistance, and training — all free of charge. When rights are violated, DRA negotiates on clients' behalf, represents them in hearings, or pursues litigation.
Who They Serve
DRA serves all Arkansans with disabilities, with particular focus on individuals in institutional or congregate settings, those facing discrimination in any area of life, and people navigating complex legal and service systems who have no other effective recourse.
