About

Disability Rights California (DRC) was established in 1978 as California's federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) organisation, originally named Protection & Advocacy, Inc. Headquartered in Sacramento with offices statewide, DRC employs more than 250 people and is the largest disability rights organisation in the nation.

What They Do

DRC litigates, investigates, educates, and represents clients across abuse and neglect cases, special education disputes, healthcare rights, community integration, housing, employment, and mental health rights. The organisation also pursues legislative change at the state level and produces public education materials. All services are provided free of charge.

Who They Serve

People with any disability throughout California — including physical, cognitive, psychiatric, developmental, and sensory disabilities. DRC serves more than 25,000 Californians each year across all age groups.
