About

Disability Rights New Mexico (DRNM) was founded in 1979 and is authorized through federal law and an Executive Order of the Governor as New Mexico's designated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) programme. It is the state's sole legal rights organization dedicated exclusively to people with disabilities, operating from Albuquerque with statewide reach.

What They Do

DRNM provides information and referral, individual case advocacy, legal representation, and systems advocacy to resolve specific disability rights issues and improve service delivery. Programmes address developmental disabilities, client assistance for vocational rehabilitation, mental health protections, and Social Security beneficiaries, alongside training to increase awareness of disability rights.

Who They Serve

DRNM serves New Mexicans with all types of disabilities who face barriers to their legal rights, access to services, or fair treatment — including people with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and those navigating state vocational rehabilitation systems.
