Disability Rights New Mexico(DRNM)

Disability Rights New Mexico is the state's designated Protection and Advocacy agency, a private nonprofit based in Albuquerque that protects, promotes, and expands the rights of people with disabilities through legal advocacy, education, and systemic change. DRNM provides free services to New Mexicans with disabilities of all types across all 33 counties.

Disability Rights New Mexico is New Mexico's federally mandated Protection and Advocacy System, operating as a private, independent nonprofit. DRNM is committed to a vision of full inclusion and self-determination for people with disabilities in every aspect of New Mexico life — in schools, workplaces, healthcare settings, and the community at large.

What They Do

DRNM offers individual advocacy, legal representation in selected cases, systemic advocacy and policy work, self-advocacy training, community legal education, and investigation of abuse and neglect in facilities. Priority areas include education, mental health rights, community integration, voting access, and employment.

Who They Serve

DRNM serves New Mexicans of all ages with any disability, free of charge. Services reach across urban centres and rural communities including tribal lands, with particular attention to underserved and marginalised populations.
