Disability Rights Ohio (DRO) has served as Ohio's federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) system and Client Assistance Program (CAP) since October 2012. Headquartered in Columbus, DRO is a private nonprofit governed by a board primarily made up of people with disabilities and family members of people with disabilities.
What They Do
DRO provides free legal advocacy, information and referral, mediation, and systemic advocacy on issues including abuse and neglect, housing, employment, special education, assistive technology access, community integration, voting rights, and civil-rights enforcement. Both individual case work and broader systems-change efforts are central to its mission.

Ohioans of all ages with any disability — physical, intellectual, psychiatric, sensory, or developmental — who face rights violations, discrimination, abuse, neglect, or barriers to community participation and independent living.
