Disability Rights Ohio
Ohio's sole Protection and Advocacy agency offering free legal advocacy and rights protection across education, housing, employment, and abuse prevention for all Ohioans with disabilities.
About
Disability Rights Ohio (DRO) is the only organisation of its kind in Ohio, mandated under federal law to pursue legal, administrative, and other remedies to protect the rights of people with disabilities. DRO was formally established in its current form in 2012, continuing decades of protection and advocacy work previously carried out by the Ohio Legal Rights Service.
What They Do
DRO provides free legal and rights advocacy to individuals facing problems related to abuse, neglect, discrimination, access to assistive technology, special education, housing, employment, community integration, and voting. The organisation represents clients at no charge and pursues systemic advocacy and public education to create lasting change.
Who They Serve
DRO serves Ohioans with any disability — physical, intellectual, psychiatric, or other — at no cost. Services span the full lifespan, from children navigating IEPs to adults in institutional or community settings throughout Ohio.
