About

Disability Rights Oregon (DRO) is the Oregon state disability Protection and Advocacy (P&A) agency and part of the nation's federally funded P&A system. Operating as a non-profit organisation based in Portland, DRO functions as an independent watchdog for the rights of Oregonians with disabilities and also administers Oregon's Client Assistance Program.

What They Do

DRO provides free assistance with disability-related legal issues, investigates allegations of abuse and neglect in care settings, monitors conditions in institutions, advocates for systemic policy change at the state level, and offers community education and self-advocacy training resources. Services are provided at no cost to Oregonians with disabilities.

Who They Serve

People with any disability in Oregon — including physical, mental health, intellectual, developmental, and sensory disabilities. DRO gives priority to individuals most at risk of rights violations or who lack other avenues of legal assistance, including people in institutional settings.
