Disabled People's Development Organization(DPDO)
A grassroots disability-led organisation founded in Myanmar in 2003 that promotes the social model of disability, self-help networks, and economic empowerment for people with disabilities. DPDO builds disability-led group enterprises and community self-help groups across Myanmar to create employment and peer support.
About
Disabled People's Development Organization (DPDO) was established in 2003 by persons with disabilities inspired by capacity-building training in Bangkok. Originally named RPDG, it was renamed DPDO in 2008 and opened its first office in Yangon on 27 June 2009.
What They Do
DPDO develops self-help groups for persons with disabilities, promotes awareness of the social model of disability, creates disability-led group enterprises that generate employment, and advocates for disability inclusion in national policy and community life.
