About

Founded in 1996, the European Disability Forum (EDF) is an independent NGO registered under Belgian law (aisbl) and headquartered in Brussels at Avenue des Arts 7–8. It operates on the principle of Nothing About Us Without Us and is governed entirely by disabled people and their representative organisations.

What They Do

EDF monitors EU legislation and policy, coordinates advocacy across its member network, and engages directly with the European Parliament, European Commission, and Council of the EU. It is the recognised civil society voice on disability at EU level, working to ensure the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is implemented across Europe.

Who They Serve

EDF represents national umbrella disability organisations from all EU and EEA countries, as well as European-level NGOs covering specific disability types. Its work ultimately benefits over 100 million people with any type of disability across Europe.
