Federación Nicaragüense de Asociaciones de Personas con Discapacidad(FECONORI)
Established in 1994, FECONORI is a national federation of 23 member organisations of persons with disabilities operating across Nicaragua, working to promote the full exercise of human rights in conditions of gender equality. With 12 territorial branches from Rivas to Bluefields and Puerto Cabezas, it coordinates advocacy, capacity building, and a talent-promotion platform for persons with disabilities.
About
FECONORI (Federación Nicaragüense de Asociaciones de Personas con Discapacidad) was established in 1994 and granted legal status by the National Assembly through Decree No. 20472. A non-governmental, non-profit, cross-disability federation without party or religious affiliation, it is the main national umbrella voice for organisations of persons with disabilities in Nicaragua.
What They Do
FECONORI promotes, facilitates, and coordinates the joint action of its 23 member organisations across 12 territorial branches for the defence of the human rights of persons with disabilities. It runs capacity-building programmes, engages in legislative advocacy, documents disability issues across the country, and in partnership with MEFCCA has launched an online platform to spotlight the talent and entrepreneurship of persons with disabilities.
