Hungarian National Council of Federations of People with Disabilities(FESZT)
Hungary's cross-disability umbrella organisation, established in 2004, whose membership spans federations representing physical, intellectual, sensory, and psychiatric disabilities. As an EDF full member, FESZT monitors CRPD implementation and advocates at national and European levels.
About
FESZT (Fogyatékos Emberek Szervezeteinek Tanácsa — Hungarian National Council of Federations of People with Disabilities) was established in Budapest in 2004, ahead of Hungary's accession to the European Union. It is a non-profit NGO whose membership comprises national and regional associations representing people with intellectual and physical disabilities, autism, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, and visual disabilities.
What They Do
FESZT monitors implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, coordinates the preparation of alternative CRPD reports, advocates for deinstitutionalisation, and engages with government and EU institutions. The council represents Hungary's disability community at the European Disability Forum.
