Guyana Council of Organisations for Persons with Disabilities(GCOPD)
Established in January 2009 and registered under the Friendly Societies Act, GCOPD is Guyana's national umbrella body for disabled persons' organisations, with 24 member DPOs spanning seven regions. The council advocates for disability rights, provides mobility aids and skills training, and shaped Guyana's 2025–2030 Disability Manifesto.

The Guyana Council of Organisations for Persons with Disabilities (GCOPD) was established in January 2009 and formally registered on 15 September 2009 under Guyana's Friendly Societies Act. Based in Georgetown at 44 High Street, Werk-en-Rust, GCOPD functions as the primary civil-society advocacy umbrella for disabled persons' organisations (DPOs) across Guyana, with 24 member organisations active in Regions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10.
What They Do
GCOPD conducts national disability rights advocacy, delivers capacity-building and policy training to member organisations, provides mobility aids and assistive equipment, offers skills training for persons with disabilities, and engages the government on disability legislation. In 2024 the organisation participated in ZeroCon and produced the Disability Manifesto 2025–2030 setting out Guyana's civil-society disability priorities.
Who They Serve
Persons with physical, sensory, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities throughout Guyana's regions, primarily through the council's 24 member DPOs, serving children and adults of all ages.
