It provides legal advocacy, information and referral, technical assistance, and facility monitoring for people with all disability types statewide.
About
Kentucky Protection & Advocacy (KY P&A) has served as the Commonwealth's designated P&A system since 1977, headquartered at 100 Fair Oaks Lane in Frankfort. Operating six federally mandated programmes, KY P&A works independently from state government to protect and promote the rights of Kentuckians with disabilities.
What They Do
KY P&A provides legal representation and advocacy; information and referral on disability rights; education and training for individuals, families, and service providers; technical assistance; and monitoring of facilities and institutions. The organisation also leads targeted work on voting access and assistive technology rights for Kentuckians with developmental disabilities, mental illness, traumatic brain injury, and other conditions.
Who They Serve
KY P&A serves all Kentuckians with disabilities — developmental disabilities, mental illness, traumatic brain injury, physical disabilities, and more — of all ages, prioritising those facing the most serious rights violations or at greatest risk of harm.
