About
LAFI Burkina (Lasting Action For Inclusion in Burkina Faso) is a UK-registered charity founded in January 2014 by advocates who have worked alongside disabled people's organisations in Burkina Faso. LAFI Burkina applies the social model of disability — understanding that people are disabled by societal barriers, not by their impairments — and works in partnership with local DPOs including Tigoung Nonma in Ouagadougou.
What They Do
LAFI Burkina distributes wheelchairs, tricycles, and other mobility equipment to people with disabilities; provides workshops, forums, and advocacy support for local DPOs; and raises public awareness about disability rights. The charity supports parents of children with disabilities to maximise their children's educational opportunities and organises recreational activities and inclusive sports. LAFI Burkina funds its work through GlobalGiving and individual donors, and is registered with the UK Charity Commission (1164093).
Who They Serve
LAFI Burkina serves children and adults with disabilities in Burkina Faso, particularly in and around Ouagadougou. Programmes focus on those with physical, intellectual, and other disabilities who face barriers to education, employment, and social participation, as well as their families and caregiving communities.
