Lasting Action For Inclusion in Burkina Faso(LAFI)
LAFI Burkina is a UK-registered charity (no. 1164093) that strengthens and supports disabled people's organisations in Burkina Faso to advocate for the rights and social inclusion of people with disabilities. Founded in 2014, it promotes the social model of disability and works to improve access to healthcare, education, and employment.
About
LAFI Burkina was founded in January 2014 by a group of individuals committed to working alongside Burkinabè disabled people's organisations (DPOs). Registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, LAFI operates as a solidarity partner — channelling resources, amplifying local voices, and raising awareness internationally about the situation of people with disabilities in Burkina Faso.
What They Do
LAFI funds and supports local DPOs, builds their organisational capacity, and advocates with donors and policymakers for disability-inclusive development. It promotes the social model of disability — challenging attitudinal and structural barriers rather than focusing on individual impairment. The charity also runs fundraising campaigns (such as L4LAFI) and volunteer programmes to sustain partner organisations.
Who They Serve
Persons with all types of disabilities in Burkina Faso, working through local DPO partners to reach communities across the country.
