Lao Disabled Women's Development Centre(LDWDC)
Established in 2002 in Vientiane, the Lao Disabled Women's Development Centre is a non-profit staffed by and for women with disabilities, providing vocational training, life skills, and employment pathways. The centre has housed, trained, and assisted over 900 women with disabilities from across Laos.
About
The Lao Disabled Women's Development Centre (LDWDC) was founded in 2002 and is recognised by the Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare as a leading organisation promoting education, training, and employment for women with disabilities. Every staff member has a disability, creating an environment of genuine peer support and mutual understanding.
What They Do
LDWDC delivers hands-on vocational training in handicrafts, English, IT, and other life and professional skills. Beyond training, the centre advocates for the rights, recognition, and equal opportunities of disabled women through awareness campaigns and engagement with government and civil society.
Who They Serve
LDWDC serves women with physical and other disabilities across Laos, including many from remote rural provinces who travel to Vientiane for residential training and longer-term support.
