Myanmar Independent Living Initiative(MILI)
Founded in 2011 by leaders with disabilities, MILI is a disabled-led organisation with 28 branches across 10 regions of Myanmar advocating for equal rights and independent living. It employs a twin-track approach combining human rights advocacy with direct service provision across employment, education, and health.
About
Myanmar Independent Living Initiative (MILI) was established in 2011 by leaders with disabilities who completed a leadership training programme in Japan. Registered with the Myanmar Ministry of Home Affairs, MILI operates 28 local branches in 10 regions and states with over 4,700 disabled members.
What They Do
MILI works across inclusive livelihood, employment, education, health, disaster risk reduction, social enterprise, and political participation. The organisation combines rights advocacy with direct service delivery, runs capacity-building programmes, and has organised national arts festivals for persons with disabilities in Myanmar.

MILI serves persons with all types of disability across Myanmar, empowering disabled individuals to lead change in their communities through peer networks, employment support, and active engagement in national policy processes.
