About
Founded in December 2009 and headquartered in Montreal, RAPLIQ (Regroupement des activistes pour l'inclusion au Québec) is a province-wide organization run by and for people with disabilities. RAPLIQ takes an activist approach to disability rights, directly challenging discrimination through formal legal complaints and high-profile public campaigns.
What They Do
RAPILQ supports individuals with disabilities in filing human-rights complaints with the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse, advocates for mandatory accessibility standards in the Quebec Building Code, campaigns for accessible public spaces and public transit, and produces bilingual public education materials on disability rights. The organization has filed over 100 discrimination complaints targeting inaccessible café terraces in a single campaign.
Who They Serve
RAPILQ serves people with physical disabilities in Quebec — particularly those using wheelchairs or other mobility aids — who face discrimination or barriers to accessing public buildings, transportation, restaurants, and other civic spaces.
