Saldarriaga Concha Foundation
Founded in 1973 in Bogotá, the Saldarriaga Concha Foundation is Colombia's leading disability and ageing inclusion foundation. It drives systemic change across education, health, digital access, and economic security, operating as a social innovation hub that tests and scales inclusive solutions for people with disabilities and older adults.
About
The Fundación Saldarriaga Concha was founded in 1973 in Bogotá by the family of businessman Alfredo Saldarriaga del Valle, inspired by their son Ignacio who was born with a disability. Its mission is to transform Colombia into an inclusive society with emphasis on older people and people with disabilities, and it has grown into one of the most respected disability-focused foundations in Latin America.
What They Do
The Foundation operates along four strategic lines: Wellness and Health, Education, Digital Environments, and Economic Security. It identifies systemic barriers, develops and pilots innovative inclusive solutions, and scales proven models through partnerships with government, the private sector, and civil society. Its Teachers for Inclusion Resource Centre supports educators and families in accessing inclusive education tools.
Who They Serve
The Foundation serves people with all types of disabilities and older adults in Colombia, with an emphasis on intersections of disability and poverty, digital exclusion, and lack of formal support. It also supports educators, caregivers, and employers in building more inclusive environments.
