About
The Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of Disabled Peoples' International (TTDPI) was established on 22 June 1985 and is managed entirely by persons with disabilities, operating as a not-for-profit organisation. As a member of DPI North America and the Caribbean, TTDPI participates in regional and international disability rights advocacy and connects Trinidadian and Tobagonian disabled people to global networks.
What They Do
TTDPI conducts human rights advocacy, public awareness campaigns, and peer support initiatives for persons with disabilities. In April 2011, the chapter established the Trinidad and Tobago Women with Disabilities Network (TTWDN) to address the intersecting challenges faced by women with disabilities. The organisation distributes humanitarian assistance (including food support) and engages with government and civil society on inclusive policy.
Who They Serve
Persons with physical, sensory, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities throughout Trinidad and Tobago, with particular attention to women with disabilities and those in underserved communities.
