Union of Disabled in Bulgaria
The Union of Disabled in Bulgaria is the country's oldest and largest disability organisation, founded in 1989 and uniting over 41,000 members across 319 local organisations in 203 municipalities. The Union advocates for the full integration of people with all types of disabilities into Bulgarian society.
About
Founded on 14–15 December 1989 in Sofia, the Union of Disabled in Bulgaria (Съюз на инвалидите в България) is a democratic, independent non-governmental organisation representing people with physical, sensory, and other disabilities. It is a member of the European Disability Forum and, together with associated members, reaches more than 72,000 people.
What They Do
The Union advocates before state and public bodies, delivers social support services through its extensive network of local organisations, and campaigns for accessible infrastructure and equal rights in employment, education, and public life across Bulgaria.
