Vammaisfoorumi ry (Finnish Disability Forum / Handikappforum rf) was founded in 1999 as the cross-disability umbrella for Finland. Based in Helsinki, it brings together 29 national disability organisations with a combined membership of 223,000 people. Its guiding principle is "Nothing about us without us."
What They Do
Vammaisfoorumi advocates to the Finnish government and parliament on disability rights, monitors CRPD implementation, and represents Finland at the European Disability Forum. It operates the Hilma Support Centre, which provides information and peer support specifically for immigrants with disabilities living in Finland.
