Developed by Autism Speaks in partnership with autism clinical experts and parent advocates, the 100 Day Kit for Young Children has been one of the most widely distributed post-diagnosis resources for families of children under five since its original publication. It is available as a free PDF download in multiple languages.
The kit walks newly-diagnosed families through understanding autism spectrum disorder, how to evaluate and choose early intervention therapies (ABA, speech, OT, PT, and others), how to navigate insurance coverage and appeal denials, and how to set up home routines that support their child's development. It includes ready-to-use organisational forms, a glossary of common autism and therapy terms, and a comprehensive directory of local and national support resources. Separate editions exist for children under five and for school-age children.
Families of children aged four and under who have recently received an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis and are beginning to access early intervention services, as well as paediatricians, early intervention coordinators, and autism diagnostic teams who distribute resources at the point of diagnosis.
