About this resource

About

Baby Navigator was created by Dr Amy Wetherby and the FSU Autism Institute, drawing on more than 20 years of longitudinal research through the FIRST WORDS® Project. It translates cutting-edge science into practical, family-friendly tools that can be used at home without specialist knowledge.

What It Does

Baby Navigator provides photo and video demonstrations of early social communication milestones organised by age, a free "16 Early Signs of Autism by 16 Months" lookbook, Social Communication Growth Charts (SCGC), an online screening tool, and parenting micro-lessons that teach families how to support their baby's development in daily activities. A companion mobile app (My Baby Navigator) is available for iOS and Android.

Who It Helps

Primarily designed for parents and caregivers of babies aged 9–18 months who want to monitor development or have concerns about autism. Also valuable for paediatricians and early intervention providers seeking family-facing resources for autism screening and early referral.
