About this resource

About

The Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work program connects SSDI and SSI recipients aged 18 to 64 with free employment services as they work toward financial independence. The Choose Work website serves as the program's primary resource hub, offering a service provider finder, benefits calculators, and real-world success stories.

What It Does

Participants assign their Ticket to an authorized Employment Network or State Vocational Rehabilitation agency, which provides career counseling, job training, placement support, and ongoing employment assistance at no cost. Assigning a Ticket pauses Social Security's Continuing Disability Reviews, protecting benefit eligibility while participants make timely progress toward their individualized employment goal.

Who It Helps

The program is available to any Social Security disability beneficiary aged 18 to 64, regardless of disability type. It is especially valuable for people who have not worked for extended periods and are uncertain whether returning to work will affect their healthcare coverage or income support.
